Mammoth Arts and Cultural Center
The MACC
*Please note that this is a collaborative planning movement. Our target is to produce a draft business plan and feasibility study for an arts and cultural center by summer 2010. After the planning is completed there are still many elements that must come together before any decisions are reached related to next steps.
What
The MACC will be a facility that will be a home for arts, culture, and education in Mammoth Lakes. It will be a public-private partnership for the enhancement of these opportunities in the community.
Where
The MACC will be located at the Mammoth Lakes Campus of Cerro Coso Community College.
Who
This is a grassroots collaborative planning effort that is led by the Mammoth Lakes Foundation and supported by a coalition of community-based organizations and individuals. The effort is comprised of those interested in supporting arts, culture, and education in Mammoth Lakes through the development of The MACC.
We believe…
• that arts and education are integral to the lives of all people, enhancing quality of life.
• that arts and education are integral to our economic well-being, creating opportunities for economic growth, learning, and artistic exploration.
• in helping to build a sustainable art and culture curriculum in partnership with Cerro Coso Community College.
• in implementation of the next phase of the Mammoth Lakes Foundation’s Arts and Culture Master Plan.
• in advancing the delivery of an arts and culture facility approved by voters through the passage of Measure C in 2000.
How
The MACC will be delivered through the following efforts:
• Building strategic partnerships (public and private)
• Leveraging current funding (Measure C) with potential new funding sources (such as Measure U)
• Creating a capital campaign that will allow our broad-based community to become patrons of the MACC through support at all levels The MACC will be a true joint venture at this unique time in the evolution of Mammoth Lakes as a desirable community to reside in and visit.
